 Song



Drummer


The drummer tool was used to create drum tracks throughout the song.


Logic Loops



Logic Loops were used throughout the track to add various sounds to the overall song.


Software Instruments



I used software instruments for melodies and percussion instruments to add any drum beats I wanted. I chose this beat for the minimalistic feel of the song.


Step Sequence



I used step sequences mainly to make melodies amongst the song.


Effects and Bussing



I used busses to give specific tracks effects such as reverb and EQ. I then used these effects to add some atmosphere to the song.


Automation



Automation was used to add panning effects and volume variations throughout the song.


Quick Sampler



I used the quick sampler to take specific chords from the loop and interpret them into my own chord structure.


Evaluation -

While recording the track, I was unsure about whether I wanted to use the 90s techno chords so I tried different software instruments such as saxophone however I wasn't happy with the sound of it so I changed it back. I was also very lenient on using the cash register topper sound but I decided to keep it later on because I thought it sounded best with the specific sound and genre I was going for. At bar 39-41, there is a bass playing by itself. At first I wanted to put the 90s techno chords over this however I decided the bass sounded better by itself to add some contrast to the rest of the song.

Week 1: 02/03/26 I started this week by looking at different ideas on what to do my project on. By the end of the week I had decided to create a research based project. In my project I will be researching different drummers and styles along with including my own examples of using these techniques. I also created a timetable on what to follow each week for the project. Week 1 Evaluation: I am happy with how my progress is going this week, I managed to pick my choice for the project quite early on in the week which gave me some time to complete my timetable that I will be following for the project. I also managed to find what styles and drummers I will be researching which will be helpful when creating my presentation. Unfortunately I haven't yet began my research posts or any sort of blogpost. 6/8 The first track I began working on was the 6/8 time signature track. I firstly came up with two simple chords which were Dm7 and Fmaj7 which I found sounded well together after I started playing some random chords on the guitar to come up with something. I then created a simple strumming pattern that was played in 6/8. Once I had the input set properly and the gain on the guitar, I then used a tap tempo app on my phone to figure out what the tempo of the song was, which was 31bpm. I did struggle playing the chords for a long time as they were barre chords, so I simply recorded the first 2 bars of the song using a thick and clean amplifier on logic which I picked out, I also added an echo pedal and a retro chorus pedal which I thought sounded very well put together and it was the sound I was looking which was bright.  What am I doing for my final major project? I have decided to do a research blog for my final major project.   In these blogs I will be researching different drummers and styles, I will also be including some tracks of me experimenting with these styles. I will make a total of 7 posts which are traditional drumming, jazz drumming, funk drumming, time signatures, African drumming, drum machines and a recording journal for my own tracks. Why have I decided to do this? As a drummer myself, I have very little knowledge on different historical contexts and styles of drumming. Therefore, I decided doing multiple different research posts would be very beneficial for me and would hopefully help my development as a drummer.
